Ballot Question Info
Some Analysis
A November ballot question will ask voters whether local taxing authorities should be able to exempt residents from paying property taxes on their homes.
What it leaves up in the air, however, is how municipalities, counties, and school districts would make up for the lost revenue.

T/E School Board Opposes Proposed Constitutional Amendment Question on November 7th Election Ballot
The T/E School Board discussed the implications of the ballot question at its regular meeting on October 23, 2017. Below is a summary of the points discussed by the Board:
- The T/E School Board does not feel that this initiative would benefit the T/E School District.
- The proposed amendment is very confusing and difficult to understand. It has been poorly communicated to the public by the State and provides no explanation for how schools would be funded if the amendment is passed.
- If the ballot question is approved, it could be a pathway to funding schools through higher sales and income taxes which are less reliable and unproven revenue sources.
