Don’t Steal Signs, Especially If You’re a Former Elected Official

KENNETT — A former Kennett supervisor has been charged with stealing political signs belonging to a political opponent, an alleged offense captured on video, according to police.

Michael E. Elling, 87, a Republican and former longtime chairman of the township’s Board of Supervisors, was charged with allegedly stealing the signs earlier his month after police received a report of earlier thefts. The campaign yard signs belonged to Dr. Richard Leff, an incumbent Kennett supervisor running for re-election as a Democrat, supporting his election bid.
