Meet Analisa and Enjoy Our Garden Tour – 8/3

A very special event that you won’t want to miss is coming on Saturday, August 3rd from 10 am to 12:30 pm.  My housemate Barb and I are pleased to host an Open House for meeting Judge Analisa Sondergaard who is running for an open seat on the Chester County Court of Common Pleas. As a bonus, we will also host a garden tour for anyone interested in strolling through our yard – a certified wildlife habitat*.

For the past 8 years, Analisa has served as the Magisterial District Judge for Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships. Judge Sondergaard graduated from Temple University School of Law in 1994, and she started her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia.  She spent 7 years as a prosecutor assigned to the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit where she prosecuted defendants charged with physical and sexual abuse of adults and children.  Analisa worked for the next 10 years as a litigator, first as defense counsel for trucking companies and their insurers, and then for a major international retailer. After taking the bench as a District Judge, her practice transitioned to a mentor position. She now trains young associates in all aspects of litigation, including research, writing for advocacy, negotiation and trial preparation.

So “phone a friend” and mark the date on your calendar now – Saturday, August 3rd, 10-12:30 at 1001Townsend Circle in Wayne. You and your friends will have a delightful time and a wonderful opportunity to meet our great candidate, Analisa, up close and personal.  I know when you meet her, you will want to support her campaign.

Additionally, the yard tour may provide an additional inducement for your Republican and independent friends to come and thus the opportunity to meet Analisa and tour our property*.

You are welcome to come even at the last minute, but to plan some light refreshments we’d appreciate knowing in advance if you are planning to attend.  To RSVP, please click HERE.

Please forward this invitation to your family, friends and neighbors. Looking forward to having you join us.  Please stop by.

* Here is a more detailed description of our little half acre of paradise at 1001 Townsend Circle in Wayne:

Our property is certified as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat, a Pollinator Habitat, and a Monarch Butterfly Waystation. The transformation of our property began in 1995, after we learned about the importance of local native plants to wildlife and how to provide the primary elements that our local wildlife need to thrive – food, water, cover, and places to raise young.  A key goal is to support the web of life by providing a diversity of native plants and our yard includes over 90 native perennials, trees, shrubs, and vines, ferns native grasses, and pond plants. These plants provide food for native leaf-eating insects, especially caterpillars, which are the primary source of food for birds, their nestlings, and many other animals.

We have hosted 92 species of songbirds, including 7 which have nested in the yard, plus many species of butterflies, moths, and a variety of dragonfly and damselfly.  Be on the lookout for hummingbirds which feed regularly at, and often fight over, the nectar-providing flowers and feeders.  Our pond hosts at least 20 Northern Green Frogs, plus dragonflies and damselflies.  Tadpoles and young frogs in various stages of development may be seen.    As a Monarch Waystation and Pollinator Habitat, the garden contributes to monarch butterfly and pollinator conservation by providing milkweed plants for monarch caterpillars as well as a variety of plants that provide nectar for adult monarchs and other pollinators.  Barb has collected Monarch and other butterfly and moth eggs from some of our plants, raised the caterpillars, and released the adult butterflies and moths. The yard also features a bat house which has hosted roosting bats for many years.
