Ramadan: the start of Islam’s sacred month, it is the ninth month in the Islamic Lunar calendar. During Ramadan Muslims fast from dawn to dusk and abstain from food, drinks, smoking and sex. Fasting is obligatory on all adult Muslims and is one of the pillars of Islam.
