When/What Penalties are appropriate for wrongdoing in public office

Former PHA chief Greene fined $75,000

Wheels of Justice are often slow and creaky, but they did find Mr. Green filed false statements to the federal government. It’s good to know that government officials are called to account for their actions. Compared to the money he made in salary and his wrongful termination suit, this may be a slap on the wrist; but he is being labelled as a wrong doer. Unfortunately we often allow people to resign rather than going through protracted legal proceedings. This may be expedient, but does it send the wrong message?

You can read about Mr. Green and his trangressions here.
