SCOTT DORSEY for T/E School Board, Region 1
Scott Dorsey is running for re-election to the Tredyffrin-Easttown School Board in Region 1. He is currently serving his second term as Board Vice-President. Reverend Dorsey also serves on the Education, Finance and the Public Information committees. He is TESD’s representative to the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
Though he was elected in Region 2 in 2013, Tredyffrin-Easttown School District’s three regions were reapportioned in 2016, and he is now a Region 1 resident, along with those who live in M1, M2, M5, M6, E2, E3, E4, E5, W3 and W4. (See https://ttdems.com/voting-help/voting-locations-and-ballots/).
Scott is a 23- year resident of Wayne. He and his wife Debbie have two children who attended K-12 and graduated from T/E schools. Raven is a graduate student at University of Pennsylvania. Martin is a sophomore at College of the Holy Cross. Scott has been active as a coach and board member of the Paoli Wildcats and Conestoga Generals. Both he and Deb were active in the Conestoga Track, Football and Basketball Booster Clubs.
He has served as pastor and business administrator of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Philadelphia for the past 13 years. He also is the Program Director of Children’s Choice, a foster care and adoption agency with offices in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. He serves as the Financial Secretary of the Main Line Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance. He previously held the position of Moderator and Board Chair of the Philadelphia Baptist Association, and served on the board of Baker Industries, a non-profit that provides training and work for those who struggle to find employment.
Scott is an experienced and accomplished leader and consensus builder who has worked with a variety of non-profits, both religious and civic.
He worked as a middle school teacher and a GED program administrator in Philadelphia from 2001-2008. He holds a M.Ed. from Cabrini College and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Kutztown University.
KYLE J. BOYER for T/E School Board, Region 2
Kyle J. Boyer is a Tredyffrin/Easttown native, a Conestoga High School graduate, and a resident of the Chesterbrook area of Tredyffrin Township. He has spent his entire career as an educator and education advocate.
An ordained minister, Kyle serves as the youth pastor at his church in West Chester. In the community, he is a member of the Tredyffrin Township Parks & Recreation Board, and serves on the Advisory Board of FLITE, an educational foundation supporting schools in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District. Kyle is also a member of the Greater West Chester Diversity in Action Council, a diverse group of community stakeholders convened by the borough mayor.
Kyle completed studies in Political Science and Public Policy at the George Washington University where he served as Vice President of the student body. He went on to pursue graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Master’s degree in Education, and later a Master of Public Administration degree. He completed the K-12 Principal Certification program at Immaculata University, and is currently completing a Master of Divinity program at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.
Heather Ward for T/E School Board, Region 3
Heather is a 2013 graduate of Conestoga High School. A lifelong resident of Easttown, Heather attended the T/E district schools K-12. Her sister, Dylan, is currently a sophomore at Conestoga. While at Conestoga, Heather was the editor-in-chief of The Spoke, captain of the varsity volleyball team, and president of T/E Kids Care. She also attended school board meetings while in high school, listing that experience as part of her motivation to run.
A senior at Villanova University, Heather credits much of her success to the quality education afforded to her by the T/E School District, and now wants to give back to current and future students. She is a strong believer in public education and will work to maintain and enhance our excellent schools. As a former T/E student, Heather is dedicated to supporting our students and ensuring that their voices are heard on the board.
Heather will graduate from Villanova in May with a degree in accounting and finance. After graduation she will work for Ernst & Young in auditing. Heather has experience working in audit, corporate accounting, marketing and operations.
The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District provided Heather with incredible opportunities, and she is dedicated to giving back to the district by representing students and all members of our community
TINA WHITLOW for T/E School Board, Region 3
Tina Whitlow and her husband Todd have two children attending T/E schools: Bridget, who is a senior at Conestoga, and Connor, an 8th grader at T/E Middle School. Tina and her family have lived in Berwyn for 12 years. She is a strong believer in public education and has volunteered in a number of capacities at Beaumont, T/E Middle, and Conestoga for the past 12 years. She has been a long-time volunteer with the Art Goes to School program, teaching art history and art appreciation to grades K-4 in all of the district’s elementary schools. Tina has also been serving on the executive board of Art Goes to School, Delaware Valley and has served as its Treasurer for the last three years.
Tina believes that the T/E school district has served her family very well, and she is proud to be a part of it. As a School Board candidate, she is committed to working hard to preserve its excellence. “It’s time for me to contribute more to our community, and after 12 years of volunteering in our schools, I know I can be of service as a school board director.”
Tina has a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Misericordia University.
