With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Chatham University, Erin’s academic background laid the foundation for her commitment to public service.

For 15 years, Erin worked as a substance abuse and mental health counselor, serving as a program manager and director in treatment systems across multiple counties in Western PA. Her dedication to improving healthcare systems led her to the Institute for Research, Education and Training in Addiction (IRETA), where she worked to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice.

Under the mentorship of former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill, Erin gained expertise in supply chain logistics and lean process improvement strategies, which she applied to her work in addiction treatment and recovery programs. Her innovative approach garnered national attention and recognition.

In addition to her work in healthcare, Erin has been a vocal advocate for her community, running as the Democratic nominee for the United States Congress in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District in 2014 and 2016. Her experiences on the campaign trail provided her with a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing rural and working-class voters.

Currently, Erin serves as a process improvement specialist at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, where she focuses on redesigning systems and policies to promote efficiency, fairness, and accountability. Her dedication to standardizing work processes, eliminating systemic bias, and advocating for worker rights highlights her commitment to public service and progressive values.

As the Democratic nominee for State Treasurer, Erin McClelland is dedicated to rebuilding Pennsylvania’s supply chain with transparency and integrity, ensuring taxpayer dollars are managed with diligence and accountability.
