Member of Democratic State Committee
Donna Shipman

I’m running for PA Democratic State Committee so that we can broaden the diversity of our voices and our representation. As Democrats, we welcome people from all backgrounds and believe diversity and inclusion are the progressive values we stand for.   As an African American woman, I want to bring my unique experiences and knowledge to ensure I play a vital role, so that all constituents voices are heard.

I initially became involved in my local community because I wanted to be a positive impact for my family, but I also wanted to be a role model for the young people who live in Chester County by showing them how to give back to the community.

My husband and I moved to Chester County 21 years to raise our children.  I was an active parent throughout my children’s years at Valley Forge Middle School, and then a parent supporter for the Black Student Union and active member of African American Parent Group within Tredyffrin/Easttown School District.

I gained my first experience on the 2008 Obama campaign, then moved into becoming a block captain, majority inspector and now actively involved in local politics for the last 10 years as a Tredyffrin Township committee person.

I know that outreach to the African American community is important to our Party.  As your representative on State Committee, I will leverage our State Party resources through the numerous affinity caucuses, like the Black Caucus, to extend learnings to Chester County and to build an even stronger Party. I commit to serve all Democrats, especially those who feel marginalized, so that we can unite our voices around our common goals.

I look forward to speaking with you and ask for your support to be your representative on PA Democratic State Committee.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions in the meantime.

I’m running for PA Democratic State Committee to represent the concerns of our local communities, especially those serving on school boards. As Democrats, we believe in protecting our community’s health and welfare, we support our children in their freedom to express themselves, and we embrace diversity and inclusion because it reflects how our community looks. As a school board director, my experience and knowledge can play a vital role in raising awareness across the state to protect local communities from being taken over by radical Republican agendas.

My husband and I moved to Chester County 24 years ago to raise our children. I was an active parent through our Tredyffrin/Easttown PTO for ten years and served as PTO President for three years. As PTO President, I had a front row seat to the treatment of our residents by our local school board. I decided to run for local school board because I wanted to have a positive impact and bring more professional to the board. I’m in my second term and served the last two years during the pandemic as school board president. We all know how challenging these two years have been for us and our families.

However, never could I have imagined that our local school boards would become a focal point of partisan division against common sense public health and freedom of expression policies. The recent lawsuits to remove local school boards are part of a larger statewide and national campaign. My experiences would be beneficial to the PA Democratic State Committee as we work across the state to strategically address these attacks. The opportunity to network with other counties, who are or may be impacted by these attacks will only make us stronger together.

I look forward to speaking with you and ask for your support to be your representative on PA Democratic State Committee. Please feel free to contact me with any questions in the meantime.
