2021 Results 4: Lori Dumas Pulls Off an Overtime Upset

Hello friends,

Whomever said “good things come to those who wait” certainly wasn’t kidding.

After three weeks of counting and recounting, Judge Lori Dumas was confirmed as the winner of one of the two seats on the PA Commonwealth Court! Her Republican opponent, Judge Drew Crompton, conceded defeat this afternoon after a statewide recount showed that Judge Dumas’s 22,000 vote lead was not going to substantially change.

Judge Dumas’s victory means that she becomes only the third African-American (and second African-American woman) to serve in the PA appellate court system! In addition, she is the only Pennsylvania candidate, of either party, to flip a statewide judicial seat this year.

Congratulations Judge Dumas on your historic victory!
