The annual Point-in-Time Count found that 436 people were experiencing homelessness in Chester County during the most recent survey.
While still a serious concern, the number represents an improvement from more than 500 individuals counted in 2020.
Chester County is one of the wealthiest counties in the country, yet hundreds of residents continue to face housing insecurity. The survey also found that approximately 35% of those experiencing homelessness are veterans.
The Point-in-Time Count is conducted annually across the United States and helps communities better understand homelessness in their region. The data allows county and local agencies to focus resources and coordinate services where they are most needed.
