Local officials and community leaders spoke out after individuals displayed antisemitic and Nazi-related signs over a bridge along Valley Forge Road near Valley Forge National Historical Park.
Tredyffrin Township Supervisor Sharon Humble addressed the incident during a Board of Supervisors meeting, noting that the demonstration included Nazi SS imagery and other antisemitic messages.
The incident follows other recent reports of hateful symbols appearing in Chesterbrook and other locations in the region.
Statement from State Representative Melissa Shusterman
State Representative Melissa Shusterman condemned the demonstration and similar incidents that have occurred in the region.
“This past weekend Nazis shamefully attempted to intimidate and harass residents in Tredyffrin Township near Valley Forge National Historical Park. It’s disturbing that in recent months we have seen an uptick of similar activity in Chester and Delaware counties,” Shusterman said.
She added that the community has been outspoken in rejecting hatred and bigotry and standing together against antisemitism.
Tredyffrin Township Resolution
The Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution condemning antisemitism and other forms of hate.
“Bigotry, violence, hate, and anti-Semitism are completely at odds with the values of Tredyffrin Township and have no place in our community,” the resolution states.
The resolution also acknowledged the tragic impact of hate crimes across the country in recent years, including attacks on houses of worship and other targeted acts of violence.
