Debate over the future of Roe v. Wade and reproductive rights has become a central issue in national and local politics.
U.S. Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan said recent developments at the U.S. Supreme Court highlight the urgency of passing federal legislation to protect reproductive freedoms.
Houlahan pointed to the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify the protections previously established under Roe v. Wade into federal law.
“It’s well past time we have legislation that ensures our reproductive freedoms,” Houlahan said. “It is also yet another reason why we must always exercise our right and privilege to vote.”
Republican Primary Candidates
At the same time, the candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District expressed support for overturning Roe v. Wade.
Republican candidates Ron Vogel (Chester Springs), Steve Fanelli (West Chester), Guy Ciarrocchi (Tredyffrin Township), and Regina Mauro (Tredyffrin Township) all indicated support for pro-life platforms during the primary campaign.
