Senator Carolyn Comitta Secures Funding for Community Food Assistance Programs

State Senator Carolyn Comitta recently helped secure state funding to support organizations working to address food insecurity in Chester County.

Working with Senator John Kane, Comitta secured $100,000 in state funding for Kennett Area Community Service (KACS) to support construction of a new 24,500-square-foot facility. The project will house the organization’s food cupboard, emergency assistance programs, and other services on West Cypress Street in Kennett and New Garden townships.

The new building will provide much-needed space for KACS to expand its services and meet the needs of a growing community.

Earlier this year, Senator Comitta also secured $50,000 in state funding to support an expansion of the West Chester Food Cupboard, helping the organization serve more individuals and families throughout the region.

Recognition for Environmental Leadership

Senator Comitta was also recognized as one of the 2023 Energy & Environment Power 100 by City & State Pennsylvania, honoring leaders making an impact on energy policy and environmental protection.

Comitta currently co-chairs the Pennsylvania Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and serves on the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority and the Environmental Quality Board.

The Tredyffrin Township Democrats congratulate Senator Comitta on this recognition and thank her for her continued work supporting communities across Chester County.
